The last weekend in June I went down to Livingstone, a town at the border with Zimbabwe, with a friend - James. We saw the beautiful Victoria Falls and did a 3 hour walk through the Mosi-oa-Tunya (which means the smoke that thunders - when you see the falls you understand) National Park. Victoria Falls are considered the largest ones in the world. The walking safari through the national park was unlike any other hike I've done. : ) We came within several hundred feet of a herd of elephants, cape buffalo, wart hogs, impala, baboons, zebra and giraffe. The weekend couldn't have been more beautiful and added to it were many very pleasant breakfasts and discussions in the gardens of the guesthouse where we stayed.
I was in Lusaka, Zambia for the months of July and August 2007 - winter because it's in the Southern Hemisphere. This meant maybe 70F during the day and 45F at night.
